Monument Valley Jeep Tour, Monument Valley horse ride!! - Saturday 16th

Still having trouble with the time zones, but at least waking at 5.30am meant I was able to catch the sunrise, Absolutely freezing on the balcony! Hoodie and flip flops!

Our horse ride was planned for 9am, but the Navajo guide thought it'd be better to take the jeep first and let it warm up before we were let loose on the horses. Just the two of us and our Navajo guide. We went off road and it is a tremendous place.

The scale is immense, as is the quiet!
Some of the "monuments" in the pictures were 18 miles away! An added "no charge bonus" was the 4x4 getting stuck in a Sand dune, as far from the start as we could be! The guide tried for about 30mins to move the sand from under the undercarriage ( I would have helped but I had on my only clean pair of jeans, sorry boyo!} then gave up and phoned for help.

Luckily a Hummer arrived out of the blue and managed to pull us out.

We went on the horses at 1.00pm. By now it was hot.

We rode for 6 miles, Janet was naughty for a while and the guide had to lead her!!!

We really enjoyed, but found we were really sunburned when we returned.

You can forget about dogs...... Janet wants a horse!
